Assignment: Fuel conversion from coal to biomass
Zu allen NeuigkeitenA Canadian energy supplier is planning to convert a power plant at an existing power station site from bituminous coal to biomass (so-called black pellets).
The plant consists of five mills, each with a throughput of around 40 tons per hour in n-1 full load operation. The complete conversion to biomass operation is planned for the next few years.
Power Service Solutions was able to win this contract for a comprehensive feasibility study based to its existing expertise. As part of the planning, this includes the technical evaluation and possible upgrading of the mills and the primary air system.
The study comprises the following main tasks:
- Evaluation of the existing mill components, including detailed CFD analysis
- Analysis of the primary air system and investigation of possible performance improvements
- Conducting biomass grinding tests to evaluate grindability
This feasibility study will enable us to make an important contribution to the decarbonization of a large North American power plant while strengthening our position as a reliable partner for complex fuel conversion projects.
